Principal's Welcome
The New Testament speaks some 90+ times about teaching and teachers. In His Great
Commission, Matthew 28: 16-20, Christ charges His followers to "Teach all nations".
The Lutheran Church has taken that directive seriously, and has worked to develop the
second largest parochial educational system in the United States. We have over 2300
grade schools; some with pre schools. There are over 75 High Schools and Junior Highs,
and we have developed 10 major Universities to prepare students to become teachers in
our schools. We have schools in Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto
Rico, Slovakia, and Taiwan.
From the time early German Lutherans emigrated to the United States, the emphasis
placed on education has been central to the mission of the Church. Before building
church buildings, Lutherans often built schools to guarantee that their children would
receive a solid Christian education. That commitment to the educational process
has been blessed with a continual expansion of both the Church and its schools.
Lutheran High School of Kansas City was organized by a group of Christians dedicated
to extending educational opportunities in the Kansas City area into the High School level.
We are a college preparatory institution whose graduates have gone to most Colleges and
Universities in Missouri and Kansas. Our students have been able to attend Colleges
in most States, and we have alumni who have graduated from the most prestigious
institutions of higher learning in the United States. Our school has graduates from MIT,
Georgetown, Valparaiso, Creighton Medical School, De Pauw, Tulane, Drake, and the
list goes on and on. They have historically been accepted to any College or University
to which they apply, and have a graduation success percentage that is the envy of other
high schools. We have placed a higher per capita number of graduates in our Synodical
training institutions than any other Lutheran High School in the nation.
We are accredited by North Central Association, and the more stringent National
Lutheran School Association. Our Instructors are extensively trained in their field, and
are certified to teach by the State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
of Missouri. Our ACT scores consistently rank among the best in the Kansas City area
and we offer a full range of extra-curricular activities. Our purpose; however, is to
prepare our students for eternity as well as for life, therefore our Christian faith is infused
in the subject matter we teach.
If you have any questions after you peruse the website, please feel free to contact any
member of our staff, myself included, and we’ll do our best to answer them. Thank you
for your interest in Lutheran High School of Kansas City, and we invite you to visit our
campus and meet our personnel.
Blessings,
Chris Domsch
