LHS Cross Country Teams Reach the State Podium

On Saturday, November 6th, the Missouri State High School Activities Association sponsored the State Cross Country Meet at the Oak Hills Golf Course in Jefferson City. The Lutheran Knights Boys' Cross Country Team brought home a 2nd place trophy from the State Meet while the Girls' Team finished with a 4th place trophy.
Medaling for the boys' team were Jesse Schultz in 4th Place, Aaron Boatman in 8th Place, and Christian Hinrichs in 21st Place. Other team members contributing to the Second Place finish were Mason Dickhut, Nathan Fischer, Christian Hernandez, and Caleb Schempp. Alternates for the team at the State Meet were Quinten Laytham, Tim Mitchell, and Jeremiah Schultz.
Joelle Hick reached the podium for the LHS girls' team, finishing in 18th Place. Also running for the girls' team were Madison Chiappetta, Fabi Hoefer, Ally Koenig, Maya Laytham, Hannah Mundt, and Anne Thomas. Faith Ledgerwood, Ambrine Serna, and Brianna Teerink served as Alternates for the team.
168 Runners and 16 Teams competed in the Class 1 Boys Division and 147 Runners and 13 Teams competed in Class 1 Girls.
This week following the meet The Greater Kansas City Cross Country Coaches Association selected Joelle Hick, Aaron Boatman, and Jesse Schultz to the All-Metro Cross Country Team (Honorable Mention). Jesse is also a Finalist for the All-Metro Runner of the Year; the Boys’ Team is a Finalist for Team of the Year; and Coach Bud Yazel is a finalist for Coach of the Year. This group was selected from all 1A through 4A schools in the areas surrounding the Kansas City Metro Area. The winners will be announced at an Awards Ceremony at St. Thomas Aquinas on Sunday, November 20th.
