Young Swedish SingersThe Young Swedish Singers, a 34-member gospel singing group from Hassleholm, Skane, Sweden will appear in concert at The Lutheran High School of Kansas City on Monday, June 20th at 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, June 21st at 10:00 a.m. The group’s tour includes stops in Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio from June 16th through July 3rd, 2016.

This youth choir, founded by Director Birgitta Roslund in 1991 comes from a very musical Lutheran church in the far south of Sweden. Choir members range from teenagers to young adults. This is their sixth tour in fourteen years.

The Young Swedish Singers’ concert, sung mostly in English will include gospel, hymns, and Swedish folk music. The choir will make sixteen church appearances and participate in two Swedish festivals. Along the way, the choir members will be hosted by approximately 300 families who enjoy the cultural exchange. If you are interested in hosting two or three members of the group, you may contact the Lutheran High School Office at 816-241-5478.

Another important part of the tour is enjoying interesting local sight along the way, including shopping opportunities. Choir members have raised funds to cover both their airfare to the U.S. and the coach bus transportation. Sales of their two CDs help to defray those costs. All offering income received during the tour will benefit Shepherd’s Canyon Retreat, a non-profit ministry providing counseling retreats for clergy and their spouses.
