Lutheran High School is located in the southern part of Kansas City, MO. The community surrounding the school is a high-income residential area.
The School
Lutheran High School of Kansas City, a parochial secondary school, currently enrolls approximately 106 students in grades 9-12. The school is located off of Wornall Road in south Kansas City, MO. It opened in 1980 with forty-four 9th and 10th graders and nine full and part time staff. There were 23 students in the first graduating class in May of 1983. Lutheran High School has since graduated 469 students.
The school’s original location was at I-435 and Holmes Road in southern Kansas City, MO. Due to the sale and development of the leased property site, the school was forced to relocate in the spring of 1985. The former Benjamin Harrison School in the Kansas City, MO public school system was purchased. The school remained at this location for 20 years. In the summer of 2005, Lutheran High School moved to its current location at 12411 Wornall Road.
Lutheran High School is accredited by the North Central Association of Secondary Schools, Missouri Non-Public Accreditation and National Lutheran School Accreditation.

The Academic Program
Lutheran High School students take seven classes a day on a daily period schedule. A full year, one-period course consisting of two semesters, is assigned the value of one credit toward the graduation requirement of 26. A one-semester course receives one-half credit. Grades accumulate throughout each semester and are reported every three weeks. Percentage grades are given using the following scale: A=90-100%, B=80-89%, C=70-79%, D=60-69%. Grades point averages are calculated on a four-point system with some advanced courses being weighted and earning an extra point.
The curriculum at Lutheran High School is based on the Missouri College Preparatory Studies Certificate requirements. Lutheran High School is accredited by North Central Accreditation, Missouri Non-Public Accreditation and National Lutheran School Accreditation.
